Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Safety/HR Director to lead our organization’s safety initiatives and human resources functions. This pivotal role combines expertise in workplace safety standards with comprehensive HR management, ensuring a safe, compliant, and engaging environment for all employees. As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive safety programs, oversee HR operations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, talent development, and employee well-being. Your leadership will empower teams, enhance organizational effectiveness, and uphold our commitment to a safe and inclusive workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety policies aligned with OSHA regulations and industry best practices to promote a secure work environment.
- Lead safety training sessions, conduct risk assessments, and manage incident investigations to mitigate hazards proactively.
- Oversee all aspects of human resources management including talent acquisition, employee onboarding, orientation programs, and employee relations initiatives.
- Manage HRIS systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or Ceridian to ensure accurate data collection, payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance reporting.
- Drive performance management processes by setting clear expectations, conducting employee evaluations, and facilitating conflict resolution strategies.
- Lead organizational design efforts and support change management initiatives to optimize workforce structure and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning, succession planning, program management, and human capital development to align HR strategies with business goals.
Experience must include:
- A minimum of 5 years supervising staff.
- Leading OSHA visits and follow up responses.
- “Train the trainer” for monthly safety meetings.
- DOT management.
- Environmental oversight.
- Accident investigation.
- Management of escalated claims.
- Leading employee complaint investigations.
- Written responses to employment law challenges.
- RIF and layoff management.
- Benefit management.
- AAP experience.
- Handbook revisions and Policy changes.
- All types of insurance renewals (property, fleet, bus. interruption).
- Drug screening programs management (pre-employment, post-accident & fit for duty).
Pluses:
- HR & Safety management in Mexico.
- Previous collaboration with Executive and legal teams on acquisition projects.
- Experience with non-compete agreements with employees & contractors.
- Ability to complete customer surveys relating to PSC policy and regulatory compliance.
