Maintenance Specialist:

Job Summary: The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for keeping facilities operational by performing a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, always promoting and practicing safety, and contributing to the continuous improvement of plant equipment by finding ways to eliminate unscheduled downtime and efficiency. The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of conduct set forth by PSC and staying current on all new OSHA regulations and safety trends.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair or replace equipment when necessary.
- Perform basic plumbing.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repair work as needed.
- Perform building repair work when necessary.
- Order necessary parts, tools, equipment, etc. in a timely manner by following company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a complement of critical spares on shelves for plant equipment.
- Maintain parts inventory.
- Perform root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions or failures.
- Take required corrective and preventative actions to prevent failures.
- Communicate and coordinate with the equipment suppliers to resolve plant equipment issues.
- Create and implement a preventative maintenance schedule in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's recommendations or the industry’s best acceptable practices for equipment.
- Maintain close coordination with the production department to resolve equipment breakdowns and other production-related needs.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete tasks such as welding, drilling and tapping, conduct bending, etc.....
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by management.
- Complete all safety proposals within 30 days of receiving proposals.
- Maintain 5-S
- Fill out all preventative maintenance binders weekly or biweekly depending on the needs of the machine.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED plus at least 3 years of related experience in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Troubleshoot and repair machines
- Ability to use a wide range of power tools
- Ability to understand instruction given in written, oral or diagram form.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, HVAC and electrical skills
- Comprehension of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical prints
- Able to work overtime as needed
Must be able to lift to 60 lbs. occasionally. Work in a non-climate-controlled facility, bend and stoop, use hand motion, and work with fiberglass.
Required ppe: fitted gloves, safety glasses, sleeves, and barrier cream to protect skin from fiberglass irritation, dust mask optional.
Safety recommendations: Proper lifting techniques, use proper body mechanics when pulling on rolls during press operation to avoid sprain, strain, be aware of work area for trip hazards.
